Oral Surgeon Finds a new, and some would say better use… for US Congressional Districts

A new website, www.toothimplants.com, is online to connect trained and experienced dental implant providers practicing in every US Congressional District across the US with the approximately 700,000 potential implant patients residing within each of those same Districts that by law have the same residential populations to equalize the vote of every US citizen.

Dr. Richard Ferris, a retired oral surgeon from Fairfax, Virginia believes that the premature implant failure suffered by dental implant patients stems directly from the lack of clinical experience of the operating dentist in such procedures and he has created a website utilizing the national reach of Congressional Districts to say so. The website, www.toothimplants.com, matches the zip codes in each of the 435 US Congressional Districts across the US with the zip codes of patients searching online for dental implant treatment convenient to their residence and/or work.

According to Dr. Ferris “ The effective working life of a tooth implant is often shorter that it should be because the treating dentist does not have the clinical experience required for the surgical and restorative phases of the case management that more consistently results in successful long term tooth implant use and retention.”

Several academic investigative studies have reflected Dr. Ferris’s view:
…..In the report of a study published recently in the Dental Tribune International, researchers at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry have suggested that, regardless of other patient risk factors, successful long-term implant outcomes significantly depend on the experience of the clinician performing the procedure. www.dentaltribune.com/articles/news/usa/10615_study_suggests_dentists_cause_implant_failure.html
…..The Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery J Oral Maxillofac Surg.1997 Dec;55(12 Suppl 5):12-8 in an early article titled “Positive effect of surgical experience with implants on second-stage implant survival”. Lambert PM1, Morris HF, Ochi concluded that “Implants placed by inexperienced surgeons (< 50implants) failed twice as often as those placed by experienced surgeons (> or = 50 implants)

Dr. Ferris indicates that his site has been designed to assist potential dental implant patients to find competent implant-qualified oral surgeons and restorative dentists registered on toothimplants.com. A simple onsite zip code search displays an interactive map with links to the websites of such better trained and experienced implant providers … all located nearby in the same Congressional District as the inquiring patient…. maybe even near the polls!
